Food Standards Australia New Zealand: The Australia and New Zealand Ministerial Forum on Food Regulation asked FSANZ to review Standard 1.5.3 – Irradiation of food, to assess the need for the mandatory labelling for all irradiated food. FSANZ is also looking at whether there is a more effective way to communicate the safety and benefits of irradiation to consumers.

We have received nearly 400 submissions on a public consultation paper. To ensure that we fully take all submitter issues into account, FSANZ now expects the report to be considered by the Forum in mid-2017.
