NZ: Kiwifruit stalwart flying the organic flag

stuff.co.nz: You’d be hard-pressed to find someone more qualified to talk about kiwifruit than Doug Voss.
In addition to almost 40 years growing the fruit himself, he has held just about every senior position the kiwifruit industry offers, domestically and internationally.
With that experience you’d expect a certain amount of corporate affectation, but not in Voss’ case. His biggest passion doesn’t tend to attract a great deal of complication or politics – rather a genuine Kiwi desire for salt-of-the-earth goodness.
Voss is a proud grower of certified organic kiwifruit, with 25 canopy hectares of Zespri green and 3.25ha of Zespri gold at Oropi, near Tauranga. Another half a hectare is in transition to organics.
