AU: Public consultation on proposed imported food reforms
Department of Agriculture & Water Resources: The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources is conducting a public consultation to assess the implications of proposed changes to Australia’s imported food safety system. The consultation is now open and submissions must be lodged by 30 September 2016. The proposed reform options seek to address the limitations of the current system by providing more flexible and targeted ways to prevent and respond to food safety risks, and to better protect the health of consumers whilst meeting Australia’s international obligations.
