Center for Produce Safety (US): A team from the University of Massachusetts and Cornell University is nearing completion of a test that can quickly detect Salmonella species or other produce pathogens, is relatively inexpensive and can be used on the farm. Now in its second year, the research is being led by Sam R. Nugen, an associate professor of food science at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y.
