The FPSC is pleased to announce two new Silver supporters for 2017, Costa Group and T&G Global. These commitments strengthen collaboration on the critical issue of food safety in the fresh produce industry and builds on the food safety culture in the region. Costa Group is Australia’s leading horticultural company, employs over 6000 during peak periods, manages 3000 hectares of farmed land and 30 ha of glasshouses. T&G Global is New Zealand’s largest grower, marketer, packer and exporter of fresh produce. T&G Global markets 10 million cartons of apples each year globally, is New Zealand’s largest producer of hothouse tomatoes and celebrates 120 years of operation in 2017.

“T&G Global places huge emphasis on food safety and is passionate about freshness. Our company mission is to consistently deliver the highest quality fresh produce to the world and we are proud of our success in this area,” said Mr Alastair Hulbert, T&G Global CEO. “We have extensive food safety processes and protocols in place being a global grower and supplier but having further insights through the Fresh Produce Safety Centre will enable us to remain abreast of risks and opportunities in this area.”

“Becoming a sponsor of the FPSC is further recognition by Costa that the safety and quality of our produce is vitally important to our customers and our reputation,” said Mr George Haggar, Costa’s Chief Operating Officer. “Committing our business to furthering collaboration between industry participants to advance awareness of fresh produce safety and quality is something we as a business are committed to. Costa also looks forward as a major player in the industry to contributing to the enhancement of industry knowledge of fresh produce safety and quality,” said Mr Haggar.

Costa Group and T&G Global join 26 other organisations who support the ongoing operations of the Fresh Produce Safety Centre (FPSC). The FPSC is an industry-led, not-for-profit company established to enhance fresh produce safety across Australia and New Zealand through research, outreach and education.
