NZFSSRC hosting food safety culture seminar
The New Zealand Food Safety Science & Research Centre (NZFSSRC) is hosting a virtual food safety culture seminar on Friday 3 December 2021.
The NZFSSRC states “the influential role of leadership in food safety culture, organisational character, virtue, and workplace safety is generally accepted. Research into the flow on effects from leadership, and in particular ethical leadership, has suggested a positive impact on worker attitudes and behaviour, and organisational reputation and performance. Little is known, however, about food safety culture and ethical leadership in the New Zealand context.”
Hosting their final Spotlight on Food Safety seminar for 2021, Wendy Newport Smith the Research Centre manager, will give a brief overview of her research into the nature and relationship between food safety culture and ethical leadership. The seminar will also feature three leaders from NZ food companies sharing their approaches to food safety culture, including:
- Stewart General Manager – Food Safety and Quality at LeaderBrand Produce Ltd
- Felicity Champion General Manager, Standards, Frameworks, Deployment and Culture at Fonterra
- Hardeep Kang General Manager Food Safety and Quality at Sanford Limited
