About Us
Overview
The Fresh Produce Safety Centre Ltd was established in 2014 as an industry-led, not-for-profit company to enhance fresh produce food safety across Australia and New Zealand through research, outreach and education.
In 2018, the Centre changed its strategic focus to build industry capacity and capability to deliver safer fresh produce to consumers by brokering connections and collaborations with global leaders in fresh produce.
Our supporters represent the fresh produce value chain – growers and packing houses, input services, storage and transport, wholesale, retailers and exporters. Our networks exist across government and regulatory bodies, food safety standards and auditing, research and education, equipment and packaging. Our expertise lies in bringing together innovative food safety best practice to create cultural change in food safety.
The core activities of the Centre are to:
- Work with global connections and collaborations that improve food safety knowledge and leads to innovative solutions
- Identify and translate food safety research outcomes and deliver to industry in a manner that is relevant and adaptable
- Update the Guidelines For Fresh Produce Food Safety
- Host an annual conference, a series of webinars and innovation forums.
