AU: Frozen berries Hepatitis A Virus outbreak fact sheet (2017)
An outbreak of foodborne illness attributed to hepatitis A virus (HAV) has taken place in Australia. At least four people have become infected. The source of the outbreak is 300 gram packs of Creative Gourmet Frozen Mixed Berries with a best-before date of 15 January 2021. This product was recalled nationally on 2nd June 2017 as a precaution.

AU: Hepatitis A warning issued after supermarket deli worker in Yarram diagnosed
ABC News: Shoppers who have purchased fresh food from a Foodworks in Yarram, in eastern Victoria, have been told to throw it out after deli worker was diagnosed with hepatitis A. Victorian chief health officer Charles Guest said deli items and fresh fruit and vegetables should be discarded.

Food Standards releases revised frozen berry risk statement, writes Richard Bennett
Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) has released its risk statement on ready-to-eat (RTE) frozen berries and hepatitis A virus (HAV) following an extensive review of the incident involving Patties Foods. Using an internationally recognised food safety risk assessment approach, FSANZ has concluded that “…hepatitis A virus in RTE berries produced and handled under Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Good Hygienic Practices (GHP) is not a medium to high risk to public health.â€
