With incoming CEO Damien Farrelly stepping into the Chief Executive role, the Fresh Produce Safety Centre is now seeking a New Zealand-based Director to ensure balanced trans-Tasman leadership at the Board level.

About FPSC-ANZ

The Fresh Produce Safety Centre Australia and New Zealand (FPSC) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to strengthening food safety across the fresh produce value chain. We translate science into industry-ready guidance, foster collaboration across sectors and borders, and support the sustainability of food safety systems across both Australia and New Zealand.

Board Composition and Current Priorities

FPSC’s Board of Directors is non-remunerated and provides strategic oversight to ensure FPSC remains aligned with industry priorities and positioned for long-term success.

We are looking for an individual who brings:

  • a strategic perspective on the New Zealand fresh produce sector
  • credibility and connection across the supply chain – from growers through to retailers and regulators
  • a strong understanding of the food safety ecosystem, including the role of Good Agricultural Practice programs and national standards.

Additional experience in areas such as fundraising strategy, financial management, stakeholder engagement, or profile-building would be welcomed, but it is not essential.

Why This Matters

New Zealand plays a critical role in FPSC’s mission. We are seeking a Director who can help shape FPSC’s strategic direction with deep local insight and trans-Tasman awareness. As we move into our next chapter, strong New Zealand leadership on the Board is essential to ensure our work remains relevant, connected, and future-focused across both countries.

Strategic Direction (2025–2030)

Our 2025–2030 Strategy is anchored in three core pillars:

  • Listen & Create – Translating research into actionable insights and identifying emerging risks
  • Convene & Collaborate – Deepening partnerships and connectivity across the transTasman value chain
  • Sustain & Strengthen – Ensuring FPSC’s resilience, visibility, and long-term impact.

These pillars are guided by our values of scientific credibility, independence, and practical, industry-led solutions.
