AU: Australian food & beverage industry not prepared for crises
Food & Beverage: While many food companies are relatively well prepared to deal with product recall, they are under-prepared in the event of a crisis, according to a new survey. The Food and Grocery Product Recall Survey Report by the Australian Food and Grocery Council (AFGC) and Victual also found that insurance cover across the industry is inadequate, leaving organisations vulnerable to potential costs of over $10 million in the event that something goes wrong.

US: Floodwater pathogens can’t be washed off of fresh produce
Food Safety News: Experts on fresh produce are warning of the dangers of eating fresh produce that has been touched by floodwaters. Fresh fruits and vegetables that have been inundated by flood waters cannot be adequately cleaned and should be destroyed,” according to the FDA.

US: Impact of the global food safety initiative on food safety worldwide
Journal of Food Protection: Nearly 90% of these certified suppliers perceived GFSI as being beneficial for addressing their food safety concerns, and respondents were eight times more likely to repeat the certification process knowing what it entailed. Nearly three-quarters (74%) of these food manufacturers would choose to go through the certification process again even if certification were not required by one of their current retail customers.
